SARGAM-USA's Mission Statement
Increase awareness of
Indian culture in North America and help the next generation
of young artists reach their full potential by nurturing their talents.
History
SARGAM-USA was founded in 1995 by gifted singer
Mita Kundu to popularize Indian regional music and culture among Indian and American community. To achieve
SARGAM's mission, Mita has been organizing many small cultural events, free demonstrations and
she participated in many fund raising events.
Over the years, the influence of SARGAM spread, and so did the scope of the organization. SARGAM now
conducts regular musical lessons in Portland, Oregon for students of different origin and age.
SARGAM-USA is in the process of setting up an infrastructure in Kolkata to help talented and needy kids
learn music and persue their dreams.
